“A TEACHER WITH THE ABILITY TO INSPIRE STUDENTS IS THE TYPE OF TEACHER WHO WILL BE LONG REMEMBERED” DG-REB, DR. NDAYAMBAJE IRENEE SAYS IN INTERNATIONAL TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION.

On 5th October 2019 in Northern Province, Rulindo District, Cyinzuzi Sector; Rwanda joined the world in celebrating International Teachers’ Day under the UNESCO theme: “Young Teachers: The Future of the Profession.” The day was marked in Rwanda by events held across the country, with awards presented to best performing teachers in recognition of their efforts in improving the quality of education

Rwanda has made great achievements in improving education, particulary to ensure every child has a right to go to school. Teachers are key to ensuring that when that child goes to school, she/he receives a high quality education that enables him/her to become successful in life. Therefore, teachers have the power and responsibility to shape the future generations and it is important to recognize and celebrate their contribution to the development of the nation.

Government of Rwanda through Ministry of Education is strengthening the Quality of Education from the grass-root level of education to higher level, by aiming to transform a nation from an agriculture based economy to a knowlege based economy country, and a teacher is the most pillar to use. There is no more critical need in our socity today than preparing teachers who know their subject matter well and who understand the social and emotional needs of the students.

Speaking to teachers and Citizens of Rulindo District, Director General of Rwanda Education Board, Dr. Ndayamabaje Irénée mentioned that teaching career will continue to be respected since measures to give the pride to this prefession have started to be implemented, “Teaching career will continue to be strengthened , starting from enrolling best courageous and brilliant students in TTCs.”  he said

If you love what you are doing, it shines through but talent should match with skills in what you are doing. Good teachers will find a way to get more interested in what they are teaching and to make things more interesting for their students. It requires a little more work, a little more imagination, and maybe even a little acting ability. The best teachers make learning interesting, exciting and important. In this regards, Director General of Rwanda Education Board, Dr. Ndayambaje Irénée said that the Government is playing its role for equipping teachers with all necessity to deleiver but the core business lies in the hands of teachers, “ Having a good curriculum is good but is not enough, a teacher is the key implementer, and i encourage each and every teacher to love his/her career.”  he added.

English Philosopher, John Locke said “ a new born is like a clean slate without any content, it is the duty of teachers to impart the right education to children from tender age age, so that they grow up to be responsible citizens of the world”, and students cannot be responsible citizens if they are not equipped with skills to develop their countries.

In line with that power of teachers to shape the right citizens in this developping world, Director General of Rwanda Education Board, Dr. Ndayambaje Irénée said that Rwanda is moving so quickly toward its developement  aspects, therefore the teachers have the right hands to control this development,“ For us to position ouselves strategically in the vision 2050, we need good teachers who can play the parental role to our nation as we prepare next generations.”  he said.

A teacher with the ability to inspire students is the type of teacher who will be long remembered. Inspiring students is integral to ensuring their success and encouraging them to fulfill their potential. Students who are inspired by their teachers can accomplish amazing things, and that motivation almost always stays with them. Director General of Rwanda Education Board, Dr. Ndayambaje Irénée mentioned that the career of teaching should be inspiring to the next generations, and the ability to make it happen is the hands of teachers of today.

There is always satisfaction somewhere, teaching is a calling, and no one enters it without his or her inner voice. Of course there are always some imposters, but the massive majority have their hearts in the right place.
