“EDUCATION CAREER SHOULD BE RESPECTED”, MINISTER OF STATE DR. ISAAC MUNYAKAZI SAYS IN THE MEETING WITH STUDENTS OF TTC MURAMBA AND TTC GACUBA II.

On Thursday, 04th April 2019, Minister of State, Dr. Isaac Munyakazi and Director General of Rwanda Education Board, Dr. Ndayambaje Irénée paid a visit in TTC Muramba in Ngororero District and TTC Gacuba II in Rubavu District.

In some countries there is no nobler profession than teaching, some people use to say that watching young people learning and growing is amazing but if you have contributed to that improvement you feel proud of the future generations.

The power of education career in shaping the Rwanda we want in the next generations have rebooted by Rwandan government through giving the special attention to TTCs. It is in that line, Minister of State Dr. Isaac Munyakazi and Director General of Rwanda Education Board, Dr. Ndayambaje Irénée paid a visit in TTC Muramba and TTC Gacuba II.

In a discussion with students of TTC Muramba, Minister of State Dr. Isaac Munyakazi said that Rwandan government is proud of TTC students, “we thank you that you have decided to become teachers of our future generations.” he said

Minister of State, Dr. Isaac Munyakazi continued by saying that education building is a continuity plan, it is just laying one brick after another. The whole chain to get better teachers and a strong education starts from Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs). The Government of Rwanda through Ministry of Education has therefore decided to give a special attention to them, where it seeks to scale up the number of young Rwandans willing to enroll in TTCs. It is not only scaling up the numbers but also attract and retain highly a motivated teaching force. He added

Hon. Minister of State shared with the students that education career is going to be the priority of the Government, and a teacher should not be anyone nor either ‘a by the way career’.” When it comes to TTC and Teachers, we are using an extra eye to make sure that we are enrolling and training the right people.” he said

Respect is key component of the greatest of all rules for social conduct: The Golden Rule, which enjoins us to do unto others as we would want them to do unto to us, and educationists are the among irreplaceable people in society. That has noted by the government. Minister of State, Dr. Isaac Munyakazi said that “we all once a time passed through the hands of teachers, education career should be respected, the bar to enter into career has started to be lifted higher and we want to bring back teachers.” he added

Hon. Minister of State also mentioned that TTC students are going to enjoy the discount on their school fees and non-refundable scholarships. “We are going to contribute 50% of your school fees and if you complete your secondary studies you will teach three years, later on you will be awarded the non-refundable scholarship for further studies; but you need to utilize this opportunity.” he said

Director General of Rwanda Education Board, Dr. Ndayambaje Irénée said if you love what you are doing, it shines through but talent should match with skills in what you are teaching, “we have turned our direction, we need talented, qualified teachers and that’s reason why from today forward, TTCs are going to be admitting the most brilliant and best performing students.” he said

The laboratory is a unique learning environment that enables and consolidates "learning through doing". Director General of Rwanda Education Board, Dr. Ndayambaje Irénée mentioned that very soon Rwanda Education Board will provide the modernized equipments in TTCs’s laboratories as a way of ensuring proper training of TTC students who are the future teachers in pre-primary and primary schools. He added 

Director General of Rwanda Education Board, Dr. Ndayambaje Irénée also said that the curriculum used in Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) has been changed from knowledge based to competency based in a bid to help students acquire the skills they need. “we have changed your curriculum for your benefits, now courses allocated longer from 40 periods up to 60 periods.” he said

In discussion with TTC students of Muramba and Gacuba II, Director General of Rwanda Education Board, Dr. Ndayambaje Irénée said that REB will continue to fulfill the Rwandan needs and implement the government policies in education sector.

As students head to holidays, Director General of Rwanda Education Board, Dr. Ndayambaje Irénée gave them the driving disciple which should guide them through their holidays, by referring to biblical verses such as Ephesians 5:15-18:15 “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.” he quoted

In conclusion of the meeting with students from TTC Muramba and TTC Gacuba II, Minister of State Dr. Isaac Munyakazi told them to position themselves strategically to their future,”. Be important to yourself, your family, and to your nation. He Underlined
