“We will continue to teach the youth to fight against the Genocide Ideology”, Minister of Education Dr. Eugene Mutimura says.

On 12th April 2019, Ministry of Education and its affiliated institutions commemorated those who were its employees and killed in 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

According to the statistics 77 people were killed, and they were employees of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education(MINEPRISEC) and Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Culture (MINESUPRES). However, the research is still going on to know the exact number.

In the opening speech, Minister of State in Charge of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr. Isaac Munyakazi says “we will continue to remember our relatives who lost their lives in 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, and we will never stop to join the hands with their families.” he said

President of the Committee of the families and relatives of the former staff of the Ministry of Education killed during 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, Ishimwe Josine and the representative of IBUKA in that commemoration event, Théogène Kabagambire said that they have covenant with President Paul Kagame for his unconditional love and consistent support.

Minister of Education, Dr. Eugene Mutimura, who was also the guest of Honour said that Ministry of Education will continue to be closer to the families which lost their relatives.

Honorable Minister of Education noted that the youth is the cornerstone of everything, and there is no way one can ignore their impact,” We will continue to teach our youth to avoid the Genocide Ideology as they are the strength of our nation.” he added

He also mentioned that the current curriculum is relevant in equipping the students with the right values and disciples of humanity, “by using the curriculum we have, and in partnership with other organs, we will continue to teach our youth to fight against Genocide Ideology.” he said

It was the right moment of the staff to reflect on history of Rwanda.
